How This Kitten’s Short Life Made His Dad a Cat Lover Forever

All it takes to make someone a cat person is one special experience with a cat, which was the case for the father of cat enthusiast Katherine.

Katherine has always loved cats. She is an avid supporter of cat fostering and fosters many litters herself. She is convinced cats are the greatest, but it was not the case for her dad!

A Stubborn Start

Katherine’s father was a dog-lover with no desire for a feline friend—ever! He and his wife have three dogs and he refused to have anything else.

That is, until Katherine got hold of a new litter of kittens. The kittens were all little orange tabby cats, each with superhero names.

Katherine and her mother finally convinced her dad to adopt one of the kittens. It was a huge moment! The kitty was called “Hulk” even though he was tiny.

Becoming Family

The kitten was immediately accepted into the family by the three dogs and Katherine’s mom, and finally by her father as well. Hulk did not seem to fit his name, so the couple renamed him “Thomas.”

Thomas was the perfect first cat for Katherine’s father. In fact, Thomas was the cat that made him change his mind about cats. The little orange kitten would cuddle up in his lap every day.

Katherine said, “I had done the impossible!!”

A Tragic Turn

The happiness did not last, though. Less than four weeks after being adopted, Thomas was diagnosed with a horrible disease, Feline Infectious Peritonitis. It was a shock to his family.

Katherine’s mom and dad finally decided to end the poor kitten’s suffering and put him to sleep. They were so sad about Thomas that they did not want another cat for over a year.

That is, until Katherine stumbled upon a kitten that lookeds just like Thomas in August of 2017. Not only did the kitten look like Thomas, he acteds like him too.

A Second Chance At Love

Katherine brought the kitten over to her parents house and he immediately began cuddling with her dad. Her dad then finally surrendered. He would open his heart to a new cat!

Thomas was the cat that changed Katherine’s dad forever because now he was open to accepting another kitty into his life.

The couple named their new feline friend Tigger. They love how much he loves to sleep, play, and cuddle. The orange kitten climbs on Katherine’s mom and dad so often that they have many selfies to prove it!

Happily Ever After

One of his favorite activities is frolicking in the dogs’ water bowl. Tigger is healthy and happy in his new home, and makes his mom and dad happy too!

Once you become a cat person you never go back. All it takes is one cat to change a person’s heart. Katherine’s dad is a perfect example.

Cat People Forever!

Even though it is heartbreaking that Thomas had to leave his family at such a young age, he did the impossible and turned Katherine’s anti-cat dad into someone who loves and cherishes cats.

  1. Kind of a story that is bound to make your heart melt. Thanks for making him a cat person. If dogs can do it, then people can too! 😻😻 Cats forever. ForeverMeow♥️♥️😘

  2. A FIP cat can live a long life why put the cat to sleep. I had a FIP cat that lived for 23 years. Of course he did have minor illnesses but nothing that a antibiotic wouldn’t help. I just don’t understand why people jump to put a FIP cat down

    1. sadly because each baby as with many illnesses have it to a different degree. having lost a baby at 71/2 months she had a major seizure & passed. It will be a year ago Nov 12 & I was only able to take an orphaned 8 year old whose 30 year old Daddy passed away & she was living alone with 2 weekly visits from a cat sitter. shes doing well & getting used to her forever home & getting along with my 2 girls. We love her to pieces.
