Stray Cat Who Lost Both Ears is Gifted Crocheted Pair from Rescuers

Legendary crochet skills not only keep you stylish and cozy, but can help those in need.

The sweet former stray kitty from Wisconsin named Lady in a Fur Coat can attest to that. She’s called Lady for short.

Keep reading to discover how this sweet cat’s life was turned around by a simple act of kindness!

Jumping Into Action

Last December, Lady, was brought into the Dane County Humane Society as a stray.

A veterinarian soon diagnosed her with chronic ear infections and a hematoma (blood collected in a pocket inside the body according to NASC)

The vet determined that in order to relieve her chronic pain and infections, they would need to remove both of her ear flaps.

Although her ears are visibly missing, the shelter commented that ironically, “It is likely she can hear better now! The chronic infections had caused the outer ear to block the entrances to her ear canals.”

Having no ears didn’t stop Lady one bit. She was finally free of her pain!

Back and better than ever.

Lady was healthier than ever after recovering from her unusual surgeries.

However, with her new look, Dane County Humane Society staff were concerned that her earless appearance would discourage adopters.

Then, DCHS staff member, Ash Collins, crafted an adorable solution…

Collins used her talents to crochet a beautiful pair of purple and white ears for Lady to wear, a perfect color palette to match her lovely gray fur.

Not only did Lady happily sport her new pair of ears, but pictures of her soon went viral.

Within hours, Lady was not only a viral sensation, but the national attention landed her a ‘furrrever’ home.

Collins told CNN, “I was more than happy to use my crochet skills to help Lady stand out and get the second chance she deserved, and I’m so honored to be a small part of her happy ending.”

Fate at it’s finest

Fate in the form of a kind local brought Lady to Dane County Humane Society where she may have lost her ears, but she gained much more in return.

The clever and crafty staff not only brought Lady back to health, but they gave her a new home, a unique look and an adorable accessory to top it off.

We hope Lady, a cuddly cat who loves to head bump is happy with her new owner and her new colorful ears. A fresh start with a fresh look.

We leave you with a friendly reminder to adopt, not shop, for your future fur babies.

Hear Lady out–those who look a little different, still deserve a whole lot of love.

She is very pretty with her nee ears. I think she looks adorable. I hope someday I can adopt a cat or kitten that needs a new home. It is wonderful what people are doing about adopting these animals that have been abused. God bless you all.
