Meet Puddins! She’s a beautiful 11-year-old girl from Alabama.
Life wasn’t fair to this sweet girl when she entered the world, but she’d soon learn how to love and trust humans thanks to her very special family.
Her mom, Christy, tells us all about her in the story below.
A Rough Start
It was a late late, cold spring night eleven years ago.
Puddins is the runt of a litter of five my daughter rescued from the parking lot of a mall in Omaha, Nebraska.
Puddins weighed only 5.5 ounces, was weak, and could barley suckle to drink from the eye dropper we fed her from.
We kept her since we didn’t think she’d survive.
When it came time to adopt out the four other siblings, we decided to keep her litter mate and brother Pongo since they had bonded.
That brought our household number of kitties to five total since we already had three others.
Why did you name her “Puddins”?
Puddins name came from an iteration of the old movie, 101 Dalmations.
While the movie was about two dogs Pongo and Perdita, we decided to change the name, Perdita to Puddins.
Though, to be realistic, we usually call her another name which is 2T.
What does Puddins like to do for fun?
Puddins favorite thing to do is relax on her queen scratching pedestal and watch birdie TV on YouTube.
She chose her daddy as her person.
She intuitively knows and comes downstairs a few minutes before he arrives home even if the time varies.
Puddins has a special routine in the mornings with her daddy.
He gets up earlier than everyone else and they go downstairs to the kitchen where Puddins gets a small dab of strawberry yogurt.
What is Puddins’s personality like?
Puddins developed slow and has always been a small kitty, timid and suspicious of everyone and everything.
Like her daddy, Puddins is an introvert.
If any guests come over, she’ll hide safely under the bed until they are gone.
She coos. Of all the kitties I’ve ever been owned by, she’s the only one that does that and it’s incredibly cute.
Puddins has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We almost lost her six months ago.
She takes several medications twice a day and is very good about the terrible tasting pills.
We’re not sure how much more time we have with our cooing Puddins. She is our baby!
