Janet Adamowicz was devastated when her cat, Boo, went missing at the young age of four.

Heartbroken by Boo’s sudden absence, Janet did everything in her power to bring her sweet girl back home.

She contact neighbors, put up posters, and even put ads in the local newspaper hoping people would recognize Boo and reunite her with his mom.

After a year of relentless effort, Janet had no choice but to accept that Boo was gone for good.

The best she could hope for was that Boo had was safe and healthy with another another family who loved him as much as she did.

With a Boo shaped hole in her heart, Janet resigned from her search and opened her heart and home to two new kitties– Ollie and Tessie.

No cat could ever replace Boo, but Janet knew she could give other cats a safe place to call home in Boo’s honor.

Fast forward 13 years later. Janet received a strange phone call that left her speechless.

A Life Changing Call

“I got a call on Thursday to say I had a cat missing,” Janet said. “I said ‘I don’t think I do, they’re both here.'”

Janet was puzzled. She thought the caller was referring to the two cats she adopted after Boo went missing.

But the caller from the vet clinic was not mistaken.

“They said they looked in the system and it says you have a cat named Boo,” Janet recalled.

Janet was shocked. She couldn’t believe it.

When arrived at the vet clinic, she was suddenly face-to-face with Boo after 13 long years apart.

The most incredible part was that Boo still remembered Janet.

“I don’t know where she had been, I think possibly a stray but kept being fed by strangers – or catching her own food,” said Janet.

Now a senior cat at the ripe age of 17, Boo was still alive and healthy.

Mystery Unsolved

The veterinary staff where Boo and Janet were reunited will never forget the emotional scene that unfolded before their eyes.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the building,” a spokesperson for the vet said. “Boo recognized her mum straight away and within minutes the two were thoroughly enjoying plenty of face rubs, cuddles, and meows.”

The vet scanned Boo for a microchip and found Janet’s contact information from when Boo was microchipped all the way back in 2001.

No one will ever know how if and how Boo made it on her own for all those years.

How Boo spent those 13 years will always remain a mystery. But to Janet, it didn’t matter.

All that mattered was that Boo was alive, safe, and reunited with the person who loved her the most.

Reunited for Good

She showed some signs of dehydration and tiredness, but luckily, she appeared to be in good overall health.

Allegedly a woman who lived roughly 40 miles away noticed Boo lurking for a few weeks and took her to the vet.

“We don’t know how she got all those 40 miles, it could have been any number of reasons.” Janet said. “She has done well as a 17-year-old cat to last that long as a stray cat – it really is remarkable.”

Despite having not seen Janet for 13 years, Boo still remembered her as if she’d seen her just yesterday.

“She still remembers me and has been my shadow ever since coming home. The other two cats are not impressed, but hopefully, Boo is finally home for good,” said Janet.

Boo and Janet have a lot of time to make up for.

Thankfully, Boo will spend the rest of her life being showered with love and attention by Janet in the comfort of a warm, safe home.

Microchipping Saves Lives

The vet staff would like to use this opportunity to stress the importance of microchipping your pet.

Had it not been for Janet microchipping Boo, the two would have never been reunited.

Our hearts break at the thought of sweet Boo spending her golden years on the streets, fending for herself as she grew weak and old.

Wonderful storyThat is such a wonderful story! Nice to start the day with something positive. I am glad that they were reunited. anything could’ve happened to Boo. Someone might’ve even had her and then dumped her when she got old. But, the best part is she ended up back with her mom who loved her!
